Cast Off 8's enjoy square dancing and travel, far and wide, to follow their passion. We travel as a club as well as individuals. Below are some of the special dances and events that we have enjoyed. We recommend the list to our club members, as well as, to all square dancers. To obtain a dance flyer, just click on the flyer and print. The Maple Sugar Dance Festival in South Burlington, VT is a dance the club has supported and enjoy for many years. The dance is put on by the Lake Champlain Squares. The next dance is the 43nd and will be held March 9 & 10, 2012. The weekend begins Friday evening and continues thru Saturday. The dance level is Class (easy Mainstream) through Challenge, something for all dancers. Next year's group of callers come from far and wide: Ray Brendzy from Bumaby, British Columbia; Saundra Bryant from Chicago, Illinois; Steve Kopman from Knoxville, Tennessee; and Tom Miller from Chest Springs, Pennsylvania. The Summer Magic 2012 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada August 24, 25, and 27, 2012 is a cross the border dance orchestrated by Don Moger and Avena Smolkin. The unique location for the weekend is NAV CANADA Conference Center situated along the picturesque St. Lawrence Seaway. All the areas are air-conditioned. The square dance level will be Mainstream thru A2 and choreographed by five great callers: Don Moger (QC), Jet Roberts (CA), Joe Saltel (TX), Jerry Story (IA), and Bronc Wise (Sweden). Round Dancing will be cued by Steve and Irene Bradt (PA). Members of the Cast Off 8's have attended the festvities from the beginning. We highly recommend this weekend dance. The 54th New England Square and Round Dance Convention will be in Hartford, CT on April 27 & 28, 2012. All activies will be held at the Connecticut Convention Center & Marriott Ballroom. The Caller & Cuer list will be from all over the country and is quite large. The club has gone to this convention as a group and have enjoyed the dancing for many years. The Cast Off 8's will be celebrating our 34th Anniversary with a dance on Saturday, September 22, 2012 with A1/A2 between 6:30 & 7:30 and Mainstream/Plus between 7:30 & 10:30. The dance will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Rutland, VT. Red Bates will be our anniversary dance caller. For directions to the dance go to the Club Dances Page. The 22th Annual Tumbling Leaves Festival in Bennington, VT October 19, 20, and 21, 2012 is a regional dance which has been well attended by the Cast Off 8's and is highly recommended. This year will be the fifth year with a 6th caller and a full Mainstream Hall added to the dance. The dance level will be Mainstream through Challenge (C2). The callers for this dance are Red Bates, Randy Dougherty, Bill Harrison, Tim Marriner, John Marshall, and Ken Retucci. The cuers are Ralph & Joan Collipi and Steve & Irene Bradt.
