Special Dances (5/29/10)

Cast Off 8's enjoy square dancing and travel, far and wide, to follow their passion. We travel as a club as well as individuals. Below are some of the special dances and events that we have enjoyed. A special A1/A2 Blitz Sunday, 9/12/10 with Ken Ritucci is a Sunday designed for dancers who dance Advance and want a refresher course. The blitz is at the Enterprise Grange (173 York Street, Lyndon (Corner), VT) starting at 1:00 PM and ending at 8 PM with a supper break. The Cast Off 8's will be celebrating our 32th Anniversary with a dance on Saturday, September 25, 2010 with A1/A2 between 6:30 & 7:30 and Mainstream/Plus between 7:30 & 10:30. The dance will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Rutland, VT. Red Bates will be our anniversary dance caller. For directions to the dance go to the Club Dances Page. The 20th Annual Tumbling Leaves Festival in Bennington, VT October 15, 16, and 17, 2010 is a regional dance which has been well attended by the Cast Off 8's and is highly recommended. This year will be the third year with a 6th caller and a full Mainstream Hall added to the dance. The dance level will be Mainstream through Challenge. The Maple Sugar Dance Festival in South Burlington, VT is a dance the club has supported and enjoy for many years. The dance is put on by the Lake Champlain Squares. Well, the next dance is the 42nd and will be held March 11 & 12, 2011. The weekend begins Friday evening and continues thru Saturday. The dance level is Class (easy Mainstream) through Challenge, something for all dancers. Next year's group of callers come from far and wide: John Marshall from Virgina; Don Moger from Montreal, Quebec; Steve Kopman from Knoxville, Tennessee; and Dave Wilson from Boda, Sweden. The 53nd New England Square and Round Dance Convention will be in Biddeford, ME April 29 & 30, 2011. This will be the second year at this venue. The Caller & Cuer list will be from all over the country and quite large. The club has gone to this convention as a group and have enjoyed the dancing for many years. The Summer Magic 2011 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada August 26, 27, and 28, 2011 is a cross the border dance orchestrated by Don Moger and Avena Smolkin. The unique location for the weekend is NAV CANADA Conference Center situated along the picturesque St. Lawrence Seaway. All the areas are air-conditioned. The square dance level will be Mainstream thru C1 and choreographed by five great callers: Ron Libby(FL), Steve Kopman (TN), Bronc Wise (Sweden), Johnny Preston (CA), and Don Moger (QC.). Round Dancing will be cued by Jerry and Bonnie Callen (ON) . Four members of the Cast Off 8's have attended the last two dances and enjoyed the festvities. We highly recommend this weekend dance.
